PAINT COLOUR TRENDS 2026

Micca Paint is a member of the International Color Guild. This group meets and provides its members with a forecast of 22 colours. Forecasting popular trends for painting colours really isn’t complicated. Trends follow a cycle and there is a progression of colours that coordinate well with each other. Colour marketing designers from various manufacturing fields meet at annual conventions like CMG (Color Marketing Group) These meetings are important because the ‘Right’ colour sells……The manufacturers of textiles ( linens, fabrics, carpets, clothing) plastics, metals and all the goods we purchase like to produce products that complement each other. These trends are decided about 3 years before they are seen in our stores.

We are in a cycle of beige to cream warm colours; gone are the grays and minimalist styles. Comfort is back. Ordering from our homes is the norm. We order products online and we even order our food for home delivery. We are craving warm happy inside spaces. Chunky knit sweaters and cozy socks are a must. We are splurging on beautiful things.

Good news is paint can be any colour and it’s important to choose your paint colour after all your new decorating purchases are complete. Micca will suggest a Trend palette that will be fashion forward, most likely ahead of other National paint brands. Micca Paint customers are greatly influenced by European trends. GOLD STRAND (Fil d’or) #0812 Color of the Year

This soft muted yellow is a gentle hue with reduced saturation. It evokes a feeling of warm calm and sophistication rather than intense brightness. Micca chose this yellow because it pairs well with deeper colours that we see on a statement wall or on upholstered furniture that is deep, blue, green, red, clay, plum and brown. Gold Strand (Fil d’or) is an excellent wall colour that can balance all the drama of wood tones and bold colours

HONKY TONK BLUE (Bleu bastringue) #0619

This is the first of the drama colours of the year. Use on a statement wall. It’s a moody blue that has cool undertones of our favourite denims. And, as we all know brown belts and footwear are worn with denim blue, Honky Tonk Blue pairs well with soft browns like our Safari Sun (Soleil safari) # 0248 and wood floors and furniture. Of course, the Color of the year, Gold Strand (Fil d’OR) #0812 is also an excellent pairing..or even a trio?

CHUCKLES (Gloussements) #1089

This magnificent warm red with brown undertones exudes personality and energizes any space, whether its an accent or a main wall colour. As a dining room colour it stimulates conversation and appetite. Other warm neutrals can accompany Chuckles. Think of Safari Sun, Baguette (#0188) and of course Gold Strand.

BAGUETTE #0188

Baguette is a warm and cozy neutral backdrop wall colour with subtle pink undertones. Reds and plums and dark browns are balanced with this earthy colour. LUNA LIGHT (Lampe luna) #0488

This is an interesting choice that really isn’t grey and not baby blue. It’s a real in-between. Somehow, it’s warm. Its celestial. This is for the home that was ALL grey but is transitioning to warm lavenders, plums and some earthy greens. Luna Light looks great with beiges, brown and even reds and blues…

MOTHERLAND (Mere patrie) #0793

Again, Motherland is another earthy green colour. Green is everywhere. This olive-green hue features golden undertones like Gold Strand. Complement this colour with jewel tones for a pop of contrast. Honky Tonk blue is and excellent pop color to pair with Motherland..

MELLOW GLOW (Lueur patinée) # 1023

Mellow Glow is a soft shade of peach with a touch of orange undertones. We seem to be transitioning from soft grey pinks to peachier neutrals. Maybe Taylor Swift will influence a coral orange trend. This soft peach is lovely with soft green and soft pinks. Its sister colour #1024 can also be exciting. Take a chance, be bold…

SAFARI SUN (Soleil safari) # 0248

This caramel colour hugs you and is most of this year’s palette best friend…it loves Chuckles, Honky Tonk Blue, Baguette and of course Gold Strand. Soft pastels like Safari Sun. Paint trims a crisp white like Sugar Dust (Poussière de sucre) #0011.

SUGAR DUST (Poussière de sucre) #0011

This white is as sweet and delicate as its name suggests. Sugar Dust is a bright and airy off-white hue with COOL undertones. It will balance all the warm colours of this year’s palette. Use it for trims and ceilings….. Micca thinks this is a ‘pure’ white. It’s pure aesthetic pairs well with the entire palette this year. Sugar Dust is a white that pops without any hint of beige or grey.
